The Bassett Historical Center will host “Building A Town: The Early Years of Bassett Furniture” on Oct. 13, exploring the origins and development of Bassett.
Local historian Andy Doss will lead the program, which will examine Bassett’s beginnings as a rural agricultural community, the establishment of the Bassett Furniture Company and the growth of the town around the furniture industry.
The presentation will use historic photographs, maps and local stories to explore the people, industries and events that shaped Bassett and its development into a major furniture manufacturing center.
The program will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Susan L. Adkins Memorial Meeting Room at the Bassett Historical Center.
The program is free and open to the public.
