Del. Eric Phillips

Del. Eric Phillips has been appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the New College Institute (NCI), a leading educational institution dedicated to expanding access to higher education and workforce training opportunities in Southern and Southwest Virginia.

Phillips, who represents the 48th House District which includes the City of Martinsville, most of Henry and Pittsylvania counties, brings a strong record of public service and a deep commitment to education, economic development, and workforce training. His appointment reflects a continued focus on strengthening partnerships between state leadership and regional educational institutions.

NCI, located in Martinsville, plays a vital role in providing degree programs, certifications, and professional development opportunities in collaboration with other educational institutions across the Commonwealth. NCI serves as a hub for innovation and talent development, supporting both students and local employers.

“I am honored to join the Board of Directors of the New College Institute,” said Delegate Phillips. “NCI is a cornerstone of educational opportunity in our region, and I look forward to working with fellow board members to expand access, strengthen workforce pipelines, and support economic growth in Martinsville and the surrounding communities.”
