Authorities in Henry County responded to a call received by the Martinsville-Henry County Emergency 911 Center on Oct. 24, at approximately 11:35 p.m.

The caller stated an individual had been shot while in the parking lot of the Circle K Convenience Store, located at 1560 Virginia Ave., Collinsville.

Deputies arrived on the scene and located Tarleton Marland Gravely, 43, of Martinsville, in the parking lot. Gravely suffered gunshot wounds to both of his legs. He was alert and coherent, according to a release.

Initially, Gravely was transported to SOVAH Health Martinsville and later, he was transferred to a Roanoke facility for treatment.

Gravely allegedly told investigators that he was in the parking lot when he heard multiple gunshots.  Gravely described the shooter as a black male driving a gold or tan color SUV.

The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at (276) 638-8751 or the Crimestoppers Program at 63-CRIME (632-7463). The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $2,500 for information related to crime. The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
