“Returning to Henry County feels like coming home,” Hughes said. “This community has always held a special place in my heart. Henry County is where I began my career in education, where I developed my passion for serving students and families, and where many of my family members live, work, and serve. I am grateful for the opportunity to return to a community that has shaped both my personal and professional journey.
“I am excited to partner with students, families, educators, and community members to continue strengthening educational opportunities for every learner. Meaningful relationships are the foundation of successful schools, and I look forward to listening, learning, and working alongside others to support the outstanding work already taking place across Henry County Public Schools,” she added.
Her vision for Special Education is centered on collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
“My goal is to foster a collaborative culture where students, families, educators, and community partners work together to ensure every student has access to a high-quality education and the supports needed to be successful,” said Hughes. “I believe in empowering educators, using data to guide thoughtful decisions, strengthening inclusive practices, and building systems that support both academic achievement and student well-being.”
Superintendent Dr. Amy Blake-Lewis said, “We are pleased to welcome Dr. Hughes to the Henry County Public Schools division team.
