A section of westbound U.S. 58 Business (A. L. Philpott Highway) in Henry County was closed for an emergency pipe replacement, starting on Friday, August 21.
All traffic is shifted onto the eastbound lanes, with one lane for each direction. Barrels separate opposing traffic, and the speed limit is reduced to 35 mph within the traffic shift.
The traffic shift will begin at Dicky’s Drive and end at Virginia 1747 (Summit Road) and Virginia 1746 (Machinery Drive). Drivers entering U.S. 58 Business from Dicky’s Drive, Dug Mountain Road or Summit Road will be limited to right turns for the duration of the closure. Drivers entering U.S. 58 Business from Machinery Drive will still be able to turn left or right.
Drivers are urged to pay attention to message boards and signs in the area. Work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. Friday, August 28, weather permitting.
