Gov. Abigail Spanberger is encouraging eligible Virginia families to apply for SUN Bucks, a summer nutrition program that provides a one-time $120 benefit for each eligible school-aged child.
More than 628,000 Virginia children have received SUN Bucks since the program launched in June. The state expects nearly 705,000 children to be eligible, and applications for this summer’s benefit will be accepted through Aug. 31.
SUN Bucks can be used to purchase groceries, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, dairy and meat, at businesses that accept SNAP EBT benefits.
Eligible households can apply online, submit a paper application by mail or call the SUN Bucks Call Center at 866-513-1414 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eligible households can apply online or submit a paper application by mail.

Virginia is one of 39 states participating in the federal Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer program, also known as SUN Bucks.
