A sponsorship from Brightspeed will allow up to 200 local students to participate in the Martinsville-Henry County Family YMCA’s fall Youth in Motion program at no cost.
Youth in Motion, also known as Miles in Martinsville, is a 10-week fitness and running program for boys and girls in third through fifth grades.
The program uses games, challenges and activities to help children build strength, confidence and endurance while developing healthy habits and practicing the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
Participants will receive weekly practices, a race shirt and free entry into the Holiday Run Festival 5K, scheduled for Dec. 5.
“We are incredibly grateful to Brightspeed for investing in the health and well-being of local children,” said Brad Kinkema, CEO and executive director of the Martinsville-Henry County Family YMCA. “Brightspeed has been a consistent sponsor for programs and events at the YMCA for about two years now, and we are excited to see what these young runners accomplish this fall.”

The fall 2026 Youth in Motion season begins the week of Sept. 21. Space is limited, and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Completed registration forms should be returned to the Martinsville-Henry County Family YMCA, not to the student’s school.
