The funding, awarded by the Virginia Aviation Board, will support projects at 65 public-use airports across Virginia. Blue Ridge Regional Airport is among the largest recipients, with more than $5 million designated for its terminal project.
The investments follow legislation signed by Spanberger earlier this year that updated the allocation formula for the Commonwealth Aviation Fund for the first time since its creation in 1986.
Virginia’s airport system generates an estimated $42 billion in economic output, supports nearly 220,000 jobs and produces $15.2 billion in wages, according to the Virginia Department of Aviation.
