The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Blue Ridge will hold its 13th annual Blue Ridge Duck Race on Sept. 4, with proceeds supporting the organization’s after-school enrichment programs.
The virtual fundraiser will feature 5,000 rubber ducks competing in an online race. The owners of the top three ducks will receive cash prizes of $1,000 for first place, $800 for second and $500 for third.
“The Blue Ridge Duck Race is always such a fun event for our community, and we’re thrilled to offer exciting prizes again this year,” CEO Marisa Womack said. “Every duck adopted makes a real difference in the lives of our Club members.”
Duck adoption packages begin at $5 and include options ranging from a single duck to larger packages. The organization also is offering a “Quack Attack” option, allowing participants who purchase 25 ducks for $100 to surprise a friend by decorating their yard with ducks and signs.
“With duck adoption packages starting at just $5, there are options for everyone,” said Stephanie Penn, Board Chair of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Blue Ridge. “We’re especially excited about the ‘Quack Attack’ option—when you purchase 25 ducks for $100, you can surprise a friend by decorating their yard with ducks and signs. It’s a joyful way to spread awareness and support for our Club, and it brings smiles to both kids and adults alike.”
Ducks may be adopted online at www.duckrace.com/blueridge, by calling (276) 656-1171, or in person at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Blue Ridge office, 311 E. Church St., Martinsville. Ducks also will be available for adoption during BGCBR Night at the Martinsville Mustangs game at 7 p.m. July 27.
