During the course of the investigation, Aaron Ray Snider was identified as the suspect. Investigators collected evidence, which was submitted to the Virginia Department of Forensic Science for analysis. Based on the findings, warrants were obtained for Snider, 28, on a single count of rape.

As the investigation progressed, the sheriff’s office received information that Snider had fled Henry County. Since that time, investigators have been actively working to locate him. On June 11, “credible information led investigators” to Beaufort County, North Carolina, according to a release.

With the assistance of local authorities, Snider was located and arrested without incident on June 12. He is currently being held in North Carolina without bond, pending extradition to Virginia. Due to the sensitive nature of this case, the name of the victim will not be released.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public and our law enforcement partners for their assistance in this ongoing investigation.
