Franketta Tatum will assume the role of principal of Rich Acres Elementary School (RAE), effective July 2026.
Tatum brings extensive experience in educational leadership and a strong instructional background. As principal of Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, student success, and fostering a positive school culture.
A former Rich Acres Elementary student herself, Tatum’s appointment represents a meaningful homecoming as she returns to the school that helped shape her educational journey.
“Under Fran Tatum’s leadership, Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School has earned and maintained full accreditation each year since 2023. During her tenure, the school has also experienced improvements in student attendance and reductions in staff turnover,” said Dr. Amy Blake-Lewis, Superintendent. “These accomplishments reflect her dedication, vision, and focus on student success. We are excited to see her bring that same energy and commitment to Rich Acres Elementary.”
Reflecting on this new chapter, Tatum said, “I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and families of Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School for their trust and support over the past four and a half years. I am excited for the opportunity to return to the elementary setting and serve the Rich Acres community. As a former Rich Acres Buccaneer, walking the halls of RAE again fills me with both pride and gratitude. Rich Acres has a longstanding tradition of academic excellence, and I look forward to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families as we work together to continue that tradition and create new opportunities for success.”
Tatum holds a Master of Elementary Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Social Justice at her alma mater.
