
Joseph Fielder will assume the role of Head Football Coach and Health & PE Teacher at Bassett High School.
Fielder brings 18 years of coaching experience to Bassett, including 14 seasons at Magna Vista High School, where he helped lead the Warriors to two state championships, multiple district titles, and regional championships. He also served as head coach at Chatham and Martinsville high schools. A Ferrum College graduate, Fielder has lived in Collinsville for 11 years and has deep family ties to the Bassett and Fieldale-Collinsville communities, making the opportunity to lead the Bengals especially meaningful.
Principal of Bassett High School Michael Minter said, “Coach Fielder’s commitment to developing student-athletes, building strong relationships, and creating a culture of accountability made him an outstanding choice for Bassett High School. We are excited to welcome him to the Bengal family and look forward to the leadership, energy, and passion he will bring to our football program and school community.”
When sharing his vision, Fielder said, “Bassett is a program with tremendous potential, and I believe the ceiling is incredibly high. My vision is to build a program that consistently competes for district, regional, and state championships while developing outstanding student-athletes and citizens who positively impact their school and community. The support from the Bassett community is unmatched, and I’m excited to become part of the Bengal family. Together, we will work to establish Bassett as one of the premier football programs in the region and a team that is expected to be playing meaningful football deep into November and December year after year.”
