Victim of alleged abduction held with no bond

Henry County Sheriff’s deputies responded around 8:50 a.m. on April 9 to the 5700 block of Virginia Ave. Bassett, to a report of brandishing of a firearm. Deputies quickly learned the call was an armed robbery and abduction, according to a release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim at the scene told investigators that she was robbed of her prescription medication and that another person, Shamica Johnson, was abducted by the individual after a firearm was brandished. Investigators processed the scene for evidence and identified a vehicle of interest. Around 10 a.m., officers with the City of Martinsville Police Department located the suspect vehicle at the Valero located at 1105 Brookdale St.

Eyann Martin, 25, was taken into custody without incident, and authorities alleged evidence of the crime was seized.

Investigators allege that Martin and Johnson conspired to rob the victim of the

prescription medication. Martin is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, use of a firearm in a commission of a felony, and possession of firearm by felon.

Johnson, 36, is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.

Both are being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center with no bond.

The victim was transported by EMS to SOVAH Martinsville to be evaluated for minor injuries.
