Lock Boyce, owner of Boyce-Holland Veterinary Services in Patrick Springs, was found dead inside his home, according to Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith.

Boyce was found after 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10 during a well-being check conducted by a family member after Boyce failed to show up at his office when expected, Smith said.

Boyce was found inside his home on Bull Mountain Road, Smith added.

A death investigation is being conducted, and an autopsy was performed, Smith said, adding that Boyce’s death “appears to be from natural causes. “There are no suspicious circumstances.”

Boyce, 68, also was a former member of the Patrick County Board of Supervisors, a life member of the JEB Stuart Volunteer Rescue Squad and a community activist.
