Shortly after midnight on March 7, Henry County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on a silver Chevrolet Tahoe at the Dutch Inn motel, located at 2360 Virginia Avenue in Collinsville.
As deputies approached the vehicle, the driver allegedly fled the scene, and a high-speed pursuit was initiated southbound on Virginia Avenue. The pursuit traveled a short distance before the suspect vehicle crashed near the Holiday Shopping Center located at 1892 Virginia Avenue in Collinsville.

The driver was taken into custody without incident.
Stephen Jermaine Gravley, 44, of 247 Lafayette Avenue, Martinsville, was charged with felony eluding police and driving under the influence in connection with the incident.
Gravley is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center with no bond.
As deputies began the pursuit, one of the deputies’ patrol vehicles was struck by a Toyota Tacoma being operated by a drunk driver. The crash occurred in front of the Dutch Inn. At the time of the crash, the deputy had emergency equipment activated (light and siren). The collision caused significant damage to both the patrol vehicle and the Toyota Tacoma.

The Virginia State Police responded and conducted the crash investigation. As a result of the investigation, the driver of the Toyota Tacoma, Colby Glenn Jackson, 23, of 4354 Morgan Ford Road, Ridgeway, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
Jackson is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond.
No injuries were reported in either crash.
