Two male juveniles have been charged in connection with the June 2 death of Skyler Derrick Bryant, according to a release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

The first,  age 17, was charged with felony homicide, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a robbery, the release stated.

A second juvenile, age 15, was charged with second-degree murder, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a robbery, use of a firearm in commission of murder and possession of a firearm by an adjudicated juvenile felon.

On June 2 at 11:53 a.m., the Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center received a report of shots fired and a vehicle crash on Erwin St., Martinsville.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Martinsville Police Department, Henry County Public Safety and Fieldale-Collinsville Rescue responded to the scene at 205 Erwin St., Martinsville.

Upon arrival, deputies found Bryant, 20, of Primrose Drive, Bassett, unresponsive in a silver 2008 Ford Focus. He had suffered what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the chest, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the Western District of Virginia determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound and ruled it a homicide.

Both juveniles are in the custody of W.W. Moore Juvenile Detention Facility in Danville.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at (276) 638-8751 or Crimestoppers at 63-CRIME (632-7463). The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $2,500 for information related to crime. The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
