Patrick Henry Community College’s performing troupe, the Patriot Players are bringing live theater back with You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown. Theater lovers and Charlie Brown fans can catch the live show in-person at PHCC’s Drive-In Theater or virtually via a live stream at 7PM on November 19 – 21 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 22.

“This year may not be over, but we’re not waiting around any longer to bring professional-quality live theater back. We really had to put our thinking caps on and find new and creative ways to move forward during this time, but I think we’ve really come up with a great thing. I’m excited to see our Patriot Players back on the stage, and I am so excited for Charlie Brown. It’s going to be exactly the feel-good, heart-warming show I need right now,” said Patriot Players Artistic Director and Producer Devin Pendleton.

Providing for the safety of the cast and crew has required extra measures of creativity. To maximize social distancing during rehearsals, the Players are utilizing alternating schedules, multi-room separate rehearsals, and virtual rehearsal options. Temperature checks and mask use were required. To ensure the safety of audience members, the show will be offered as a drive-in production and live-streamed online.

For this show, the Players partnered with Virginia Children’s Theatre to enhance the educational component of the experience for the cast. With VCT’s Brett Roden as the show’s Music Director, the cast got exposure to professional-level musical theater instruction.

In an abundance of caution and in keeping with COVID-19 guidelines, the Patriot Players did not hold open auditions for the performance, rather the cast is made up of hand-picked talent from the Patriot Players’ previous shows. The cast is:

Sally Brown will be played by Tahliyah Hodge

Lucy Van Pelt will be played by Anna Locklear

Snoopy will be played by Mia Waddell

Schroeder will be played by Ben Armstrong

Charlie Brown will be played by Scott Harmon

Linus Van Pelt will be played by Hayden Calfee

Tickets go on sale Friday, Nov. 13 at https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/42788. Fans can also follow PHCC Patriot Players on Facebook for updates, reminders, and insider scoop on all things Patriot Players.
