Sweezer expands services to Martinsville

Sovah Health announced that board certified thoracic and vascular surgeon William P. Sweezer, Jr., MD FACS, has expanded his practice in Martinsville and will be seeing patients at Sovah Heart & Vascular – Martinsville.

“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Sweezer and have him expand his cardiothoracic and vascular services and expertise to the Martinsville community,” said Dale Alward, Chief Executive Officer of Sovah health – Martinsville.  “Dr. Sweezer has been an integral part of the Sovah Health team for several years and we embrace his passion and drive for high quality care.”

Dr. Sweezer has been a part of Sovah Health’s medical staff for six years. A graduate of Meharry Medical College (Nashville, TN), Dr. Sweezer completed a thoracic and cardiac residency and fellowing at Wayne State University (Detroit, MI) and an endovascular surgery fellowship at Columbia-Cornell Presbyterian Hospitals (New York, NY). He is a well-respected member of multiple societies and organizations including the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, National Medical Association, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Cardiothoracic Surgery Network, International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery. Society of Vascular Surgery and the Critical Limb Ischemia Global Society.

Dr. Sweezer is accepting new patients at Sovah Heart & Vascular – Martinsville located at 319 Hospital Dr. Suite 102 in Martinsville. He performs thoracic surgery, including lung resections, esophageal surgery, and lymph node biopsies, and vascular surgery, including carotid surgery, lower and upper extremity bypass, endovascular surgery, and treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms.
