A Collinsville man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies in connection with an alleged Sunday morning assault, according to Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith.

Daniel Travis Light, 36, of Collinsville, was charged with strangulation, abduction and attempted murder.

At approximately 6:08 a.m., deputies encountered Light and a female subject in a vehicle on the side of U.S. 58 near Howell Bottom Lane in Stuart, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

The investigation revealed that Light had allegedly assaulted the female by beating and choking her inside of the vehicle until she was unconscious, authorities alleged in the release.

The female victim was also allegedly physically held against her will, preventing her from leaving the vehicle.

The victim was hospitalized and later released, Smith said.

Light was arrested at the scene and is being held without bond in the Patrick County Jail, Smith said.

Investigator Robert Haynes is leading the investigation.
