The 13th Annual Smith River Fest is scheduled for August 21 at the Smith River Sports Complex.

A fun packed day for all ages has been planned, organizers said of the free family friendly event that focuses on the Smith River and outdoor recreation.

This year’s fest will continue to offer many favorite activities, including the Smith River Boat Race, Helgramite Hustle Mud Run, petting zoo by Infinity Acres, casting pond, rock climbing wall, bounce houses, demo pool, live music and beer garden.

Several new activities also are planned, organizers said of free river tubing, yoga by the river, massage station, trailside bike repair clinic, water gun battle station and magic by Joseph Young Illusionist.

“We are thrilled that Smith River Fest will be returning this year and a fun and exciting day is being planned. We are also excited to announce that Dr. J. Peyton Moore, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry will be returning as the presenting sponsor of the 13th annual Smith River Fest. Also, Martinsville Eyecare Center will continue to sponsor the Helgramite Hustle Mud Run, and Blue Ridge Bank will be the music sponsor,” said Roger Adams, director of Parks and Recreation for Henry County.

The Smith River Fest Committee, which includes representatives from Henry County Parks and Recreation, the tourism division of the Martinsville Henry County Economic Development Corp., the Martinsville-Henry County Family YMCA, the Dan River Basin Association, the Boys and Girls Club of the Blue Ridge and the Smith River Sports Complex, appreciates the community support of the fest and “looks forward to this year’s festival being the best yet.”
