Henry County Sheriff’s deputies responded on March 27 to 401 Rosewood Avenue in Martinsville, to a reported disturbance.
Upon arrival, deputies determined that a physical altercation had occurred between two parties. During the altercation, one of the involved parties was leaving the residence in a vehicle when a female resident discharged a firearm at the vehicle, placing those involved and others in the area at risk.
Through the course of the investigation, a firearm was allegedly recovered at the scene, and authorities alleged that Star Lenora Via, 37, discharged the firearm at the vehicle.
As a result, deputies arrested Via on charges of maliciously shooting into an occupied vehicle, discharge a firearm within or at a building or dwelling, and reckless handling of a firearm.
Via is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
This incident involved individuals known to one another and stemmed from a disturbance at the residence.
