Second degree murder indictments among hundreds handed down in county

Grand jurors in Henry County handed down 166 indictments on May 17,

including six in connection with a June 2020 death.



According to records in the Henry County Court Clerk’s Office, three people – Daniel Adam Fish, 38, of Martinsville; Douglas Hampton Gillespie, 26, of Bassett; and Ashleigh Nicole McCallister, 24, Martinsville, each were indicted on one count each second-degree murder and use of firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with Williams’ death on June 5, 2020.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, but a grand jury’s determination that enough evidence exists to warrant a trial. 

Also among those named in certified indictments are:

*Makayla Danae Draper, 20, of Collinsville, malicious wounding, Nov. 1, 2020. 

*Thad Edward Hailey, 42, of Ridgeway, possess cocaine, Aug. 9, 2020.

*Bobby Joe Mullins, 48, of Bassett, elude police, Nov. 14, 2020. 

*Raed Abdel Madi, 38, of Martinsville, indecent liberties with child, Nov. 1, 2019-Sept. 5, 2020. 

*Travis Lee Bradner, 33, of Collinsville, endanger life of a child, Oct. 15, 2020. 

*Conis Lamonte Callaway, 56, of Bassett, malicious wounding, Nov. 19, 2020.

*Fallon Michelle Patrick, 26, endanger life of a child, Oct. 15, 2020. 

*Willie Lee Turner, 62, of Martinsville, two counts strangulation; one count each aggravated malicious wounding and grand larceny of a motor vehicle, Nov. 19, 2020.

*Brian Eugene Finley, 44, of Martinsville, felony fail to appear, Feb. 10. 

*Malik Lamont Grove II, 21, of Roxboro, N.C., elude police, Nov. 21, 2020. 

*Frederick Valentino Hairston II, 30, of Martinsville, grand larceny of a firearm, Oct. 7, 2020.

*Pindarius Verdontae Simmons, 21, of Bassett, one count each possess heroin with intent to distribute; possess oxycodone with intent to distribute; possess firearm while possessing heroin and/or oxycodone with intent to distribute, Jan. 9.

*Kevin Wayne Tate, 35, of Martinsville, drive under the influence–3rd offense within five years, Jan. 10. 

*Jarrett Lee Titus, 34, of Martinsville, elude police, Feb. 17. 

*Tylor Evan Wimbush, 19, of Danville, one count each malicious wounding; use of firearm in the commission of a felony, Nov. 6, 2020. 

*Taree Jeanetta Bethea, 31, of Winston-Salem, N.C., felony shoplifting–$1,000 or more, Dec. 7, 2020. 

*Stephanie Kay Fackler, 37, of Bassett, shoplifting–3rd or subsequent offense, Feb. 25, 2020. 

*David Anthony Gillespie, 67, of Fieldale, grand larceny of a motor vehicle, Feb. 13.

*Billy Jo Hall, 44, of Stuart, possess firearm by violent felon, Jan. 2. 

*Michael Lawrence Hirsch, 54, of Henry, possess firearm by felon within 10 years, Dec. 28, 2020. 

*Adrienne Patrese Johnson, 52, of Winston-Salem, N.C., felony shoplifting–$1,000 or more, Dec. 7, 2020. 

*Brandon Lewis Ramsey, 31, of Ridgeway, one count each grand larceny, between Jan. 22-27, 2020; felony fail to appear, Sept. 10, 2020. 

*Sampson Carlos Dodson, 39, of Martinsville, possess firearm by violent felon, Sept. 28, 2020. 

*Jodie Noel Joyce, 30, of Bassett, felony fail to appear, Feb. 12. 

*John Albert Nester, 49, of Cascade, felony fail to appear, Feb. 8. 

*Jacob Michael Campbell, 27, of Eden, N.C., two counts shoplifting–3rd or subsequent offense, Sept. 23-25, 2020; obtain money by false pretense–3rd or subsequent offense, Sept. 23, 2020. 

*Christopher Lee Eames, 29, of Bassett, possess firearm by felon within 10 years, Nov. 29, 2020. 

*Wesley Girard Moore, 35, of Martinsville, threaten to bomb, burn, destroy or damage a structure, Nov. 29, 2020. 

*Carlis Wayne Oliver, Jr., 46, of Patrick Springs, elude police, Nov. 19, 2020. 

*Wendisha Kiowa Perkins, 28, of Martinsville, possess firearm by violent felon, Oct. 4, 2020. 

*Robert Dale Spence, Jr., 27, of Fieldale, possess methamphetamine, Nov. 8, 2019. 

*Shon David Pauley, 26, of Bassett, abduction, Oct.9, 2020. 

*Dasmonyea Quomain Finney, 29, of Martinsville, larceny–3rd or subsequent offense, Oct. 26, 2020.

*Amanda Diane Altice, 40, of Roanoke, assault and battery–3rd or subsequent offense, between Aug. 6-7, 2020. 

*Ethan Aubrey James Wingfield, 27, of Martinsville, one count each grand larceny of a motor vehicle; break and enter dwelling with intent to commit larceny, Sept. 1, 2020. 

*Namon Derrell Estes, 31, of Bassett, felony hit and run, Oct. 8, 2020. 

*Jamie Lynn Harbour, 42, of Fieldale, one count each forgery; utter a forged check; larceny–3rd or subsequent offense, Dec. 16, 2020.  

*Danielle Nicole Dodson, 29, of Danville, three counts forge a public record; grand larceny of a motor vehicle; perjury, Feb. 8.

*William Hunter Kelton, 32, of Danville, one count each grand larceny of a motor vehicle; forge a public record; perjury, Feb. 8, 2021. 

*Darryl Wayne Main, Jr., 28, of Bassett, possess sawed-off shotgun, Dec. 15, 2020. 

*Ronald Preston, 55, of Martinsville, felonious violation of the Habitual Offender Act–2nd or subsequent offense, Nov. 13, 2020. 

*Stacey Lynn Turner, 49, of Martinsville, two counts shoplifting–3rd or subsequent offense, Dec. 25, 2020 and Feb. 13. 

*Christopher Justin Dandridge, 26, of Martinsville, shoplifting–3rd or subsequent offense, Feb. 16, 2020. 

*Douglas Peter Hopkins, 35, of Collinsville, one count each forgery; utter a forged check, Feb. 24.

*John Christopher Inge, 29, of Martinsville, possess firearm by felon within 10 years, Sept. 13, 2020. 

*Dakota Christopher Foley, 22, of Bassett, break and enter dwelling in the nighttime with intent to commit larceny, Nov. 27, 2020.

*James Kevin Merricks, 48, of Ridgeway, arson of occupied dwelling, Dec. 8, 2020. 

*Joshua Riynias Carter, 18, of Ridgeway, felony fail to appear, Dec. 9, 2020. 

*Karla Mendez Cottrell, 22, of Martinsville, endanger life of a child, Nov. 7, 2020. 

*Blake Austin Carpenter, 28, of Roanoke, one count each forcible sodomy; object sexual penetration, Feb. 20. 

*Tracy Dean Clark, 53, of Axton, one count each use of firearm in the commission of a felony; malicious wounding, Nov. 23, 2020. 

*Allen Neal Dodson, 64, of Bassett, grand larceny, Dec. 26, 2020. 

*Steven Leo Goff, Jr., 45, of Patrick Springs, assault and battery of law enforcement officer, March 15. 

*Markeem Donile Penn, 35, of Martinsville, possess cocaine, Feb. 7.

*Billy Gene Taylor, Jr., 63, of Martinsville, felonious violation of the Habitual Offender Act–2nd or subsequent offense, July 9, 2020. 

*Allison Renee Hodges White, 32, of Bassett, one count each shoplifting–3rd or subsequent offense, Oct. 1, 2020; possess heroin, Oct. 7, 2020. 

 


Direct indictments are those that either were not preceded by any warrant or preliminary hearing, or were preceded by a warrant and a preliminary hearing in which a district court declined to find probable cause. 

An indictment is not an indication of guilt.

*Willie Lee Turner, 62, of Martinsville, one count each robbery; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, Nov. 15-19, 2020. 

*Billy Jo Hall, 44, of Stuart, one count each possess heroin; possess firearm while possessing heroin, Jan. 2.

*Larrieshia Nicole Davis, 37, of Martinsville, false statement to a firearm dealer, March 13.

*Kenneth Mack Maples, 38, of Bassett, one count each possess heroin; possess fentanyl; possess methamphetamine, Jan. 2. 

*John Timothy Wimbish, 38, of Fieldale, one count each strangulation; assault and battery; unlawful wounding, March 12. 

*Lisa Dawn Pauley, 52, of Fieldale, one count each credit card theft; credit card fraud less than $1,000 March 14-16.

*Markeem Donile Penn, 35, of Martinsville, one count each possess clonazolam; possess oxycodone and acetaminophen; possess oxycodone; possess fentanyl; possess diazepam, Feb. 7.

*Zachrey Neil Burnette, 28, of Chatham, one count each possess cocaine; possess firearm by felon within 10 years; possess ammunition by felon; possess firearm while possessing cocaine, Feb. 6, 2020. 

*Lawrence Jackson, 54, of Richmond, false statement to a firearm dealer, Nov. 2, 2019.

*Charles Aaron Nelson, 28, of Bassett, one count each false statement to a firearm dealer; attempt to possess firearm while subject to a protective order, March 4.

*Joseph Carter Murphy, Jr., 71, of Danville, one count each construction fraud; practice as a contractor without a license; practice as electrical tradesman without a license, between April 1, 2019 and Dec. 5, 2020.

*Randi Mckel Wheeling, 28, of Fieldale, perjury, April 7. 

*Vincent Alan Arnold, 24, of Ringgold, one count each break and enter; grand larceny of a firearm; petty larceny–2nd offense, Sept. 11, 2020.

*Stacy Earl Fontaine, Jr., 29, of Bassett, one count each possess methamphetamine; possess heroin; possess fentanyl, Feb. 4.

*Robin Denise Hutchinson, 63, of Martinsville, false statement to a firearm dealer, March 2. 

*Stephen George Patten, Jr., 46, of Axton, one count each enter property with intent to interfere; destruction of property less than $1,000, Jan. 9. 

*Travis Lee Bradner, 33, of Collinsville, one count each permit serious injury to child; malicious wounding, Oct. 15, 2020.

*Mark Anthony Spangler, 47, of Bassett, one count each grand larceny; perjury regarding boating laws and regulations, between Nov. 27-Dec. 17, 2020.

*Nicholas Ryan McGehee, 29, of Martinsville, assault and battery–3rd offense, March 25.  

More than 150 indictments handed down Monday were sealed for a week.
