The eighth annual Ridgeway Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting will bring holiday cheer to the town on Saturday, Dec. 7, starting at 5:30 p.m. This year’s festivities promise a lively procession, seasonal treats, and a visit from Santa Claus.

According to Ridgeway Deputy Clerk & Outreach Coordinator Jeananne Hammond, the parade will kick off on Main Street at the bridge, make a left onto Magnolia Street, and turn right onto Vista View Lane, concluding in front of the Ridgeway Library.

“After the parade, we’ll have a tree lighting ceremony at Ridgeway Park,” said Hammond. “We’ll be serving cookies, hot chocolate, and samples of roasted chestnuts. Holiday music will set the festive mood, and Santa will be there for photos and to hand out treats to the younger children.”

Hammond hinted that additional activities may be included, pending final confirmation.

This year’s sponsors include the Town of Ridgeway, the Ridgeway Volunteer Rescue Squad, the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, Magnolia & Main Books, and the Blue Ridge Regional Library. Hammond expressed excitement over the event’s growth. “It just keeps getting bigger and better every year,” she said.

As of mid-November, about 15 floats were registered to participate, with Hammond expecting around 30 floats on parade day. The event will also feature approximately 30 other participants, including local rescue squads, fire departments, Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, classic cars, and local residents.

The deadline for parade registration is Friday, Dec. 6, and participation is free. Interested parties can contact Hammond at (276) 956-2328 or by email at jeananne.ridgewaytown@comcast.net.

The eighth annual Ridgeway Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting is set for Saturday, Dec. 7, at 5:30 p.m.
