“Remix: A Music Revue” brings together popular songs from across generations with a twist: Multiple songs are performed simultaneously, creating a concert-like experience for audiences.
The revue spans multiple genres and decades, with a mix of upbeat rock ’n’ roll songs and ballads.
“The music revue we started about 15 years ago has become enormously popular with Theatreworks audiences,” said Artistic Director Corbin Campbell. “There are several up-tempo rock and roll songs as well as ballads.”
Campbell said the way the songs are performed is what sets “Remix” apart from a traditional musical.
“The other thing that is unique about this music revue, and the reason it’s titled Remix, is that it’s not just one song. It’s songs being sung simultaneously,” Campbell said.
Audience feedback also helps shape future editions of the revue. Campbell said Theatreworks considers what audiences enjoy when selecting songs for future productions.
The production takes a more casual approach to costuming than many Theatreworks shows. Performers begin the revue in casual clothing, including black shirts, helping create a relaxed, concert-like atmosphere.
The cast and crew include singers, musicians and a production team working together to create the show.
The performance runs approximately two hours, including a brief intermission.
Tickets are $26.50. Performances are scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m.
