American Watercolor Society 153rd Annual Exhibition

Many visitors attended Recycled Family Art Day, hosted by Piedmont Arts on April 24.

Jane Iten Memorial Exhibit

Carter Bank & Trust sponsored the event that encouraged participants to create bird feeders using recycled materials like milk containers. Some also enjoyed storytime with the Blue Ridge Regional Library.

Families gather at Piedmont Arts to make bird feeders using recycled materials.

Visitors also were invited to tour the gallery to see the American Watercolor Society’s 153rd Annual Exhibition and the Jane Iten Memorial Exhibit. Iten was a local artist and friend of the art museum. An accomplished artist and teacher, Iten was a member of the Virginia Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, and Martinsville-Henry County’s artist guild, Lynwood Artists. Iten’s paintings have been included in local and national exhibits and have received many awards, including Virginia Watercolor Society’s Shenandoah Award.

Desserts themed for Earth Day that were available for visitors at Piedmont Arts during Recycled Family Art Day at the museum.
