The early history and development of Bassett will be the focus of a program Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Bassett Historical Center.
“Building a Town: The Early Years of Bassett” will be presented by Andy Doss at 10:30 a.m. in the Susan L. Adkins Memorial Meeting Room.
The program will trace Bassett’s development from its agricultural beginnings through the establishment of Bassett Furniture Company and the growth of the town around the furniture industry.
Historic photographs, maps and local stories will be used to explore the people, industries and events that helped transform the rural community into a major furniture manufacturing center.
The program is free and open to the public.
