Anette Pinchback has been recognized as the hospital’s 2021 Mercy Award winner, according to a release from Sovah Health – Martinsville, which is part of LifePoint Health.
The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
“At Sovah Health, we share LifePoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees on and off the job,” said Tory Shepherd, Interim CEO of Sovah Health – Martinsville. “We are extremely proud to recognize Annette for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person she encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”
Pinchback currently is a respiratory therapist and has been with Sovah Health for 11 years.
The nomination stated, “Annette is an integral part of the Respiratory Therapy team here. She is frequently on call and works extra shifts to help her team. Annette is a great therapist and always does what is best for her patients. She constantly strives for excellence in her work. Annette has gone above and beyond her call of duty. She has learned Pulmonary Function tests and is currently training to do special procedures such as Bronchoscopies and Interventional Pulmonology procedures in the OR.
“Annette is a single parent supporting two college aged kids and is still able to accomplish amazing things. Whenever one of our teammates retires or is out of work, Annette always creates a beautiful, themed basket to appreciate and support them. Annette is also very active in her church. Last year, Annette did something amazing and decided that she was going to make gift bags for the homeless during the winter. She reached out for donations of items which ended up being plentiful. Even with the donations, Annette purchased more items herself. With the help of her daughter, they were able to fill over 60 bags of supplies and deliver them to the homeless shelter. The donations included hats, coats, gloves, scarves, and socks. In addition to purchasing the bags, Annette purchased and collected toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, mouthwash, hairbrushes, combs, dry shampoo, deodorant, hand sanitizer, hand warmers, feet warmers, and a host of other items. She is a true inspiration to us all.

Each hospital winner, including Pinchback, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2021 company-wide Mercy Award. The companywide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August, to which all hospital winners are invited to attend.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.
Other Mercy Award nominees are Heather Ashe, Sandra Hairston, and LaTonya Mullins.
