Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) and Martinsville City Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) have entered into an agreement for P&HCC to become the training provider for the city’s justice-impacted population.
“Our justice-impacted population needs hope and that is what we are here to provide. The plans we have now provide them an opportunity to receive training and education that, upon exiting the program, allows them to get a good paying job to support their families. P&H is honored to become the training provider for Martinsville City,” said P&HCC President Dr. Greg Hodges.
The primary goals of the agreement are to reduce recidivism among justice impacted individuals and to promote economic stability among such individuals through training for industry recognized certifications and credentials. P&HCC instructors will provide instruction on-site at the Martinsville City Jail Annex, providing coaching to assist students in successfully completing the training programs and connecting justice-impacted individuals to community support resources and employment opportunities.
“I’m a believer in second chances. We are pleased to be part of this agreement and are grateful to the college for providing this training to our population,” said Martinsville City Sheriff Steve Draper.
