Dustin Lyn Hylton is being held with no bond in connection with a January 24 incident in Ridgeway.

Henry County Sheriff’s investigators are seeking information about a shooting incident in Ridgeway.

According to a release, around 8:12 p.m. on January 24, a caller reported a shooting incident at 1429 J S Holland Road, Ridgeway, Virginia.

Responding deputies made contact with David Goodwin, 56, of 1353 J S Holland Road, and found that he had suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to SOVAH Health Martinsville and subsequently air-lifted to a Roanoke hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

During the investigation, authorities determined that Goodwin and Dustin Lyn Hylton were at 1429 J S Holland Road when an alleged argument ensued inside the home. During the altercation, a firearm was produced, and Goodwin suffered a single gunshot wound.

Hylton, 35, of Ridgeway was taken into custody at the scene on charges of malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being held in the Henry County Adult Detention Center with no bond.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 276-638-8751 or Crimestoppers at 63-CRIME (632-7463).  The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $2,500 for information related to crime. The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
