Mrs. Avis Pilson Wimbush

Mrs. Avis Pilson Wimbush, 88, of Woolwine, Virginia went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 24, 2020, at her home.  She was born in Patrick County on August 5, 1932 to the late James Garfield Pilson and Judy Via Pilson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Green and Lutitia Pilson, one daughter, Regina Annette Wimbush; four brothers and sister-in-law , George Calvin Pilson, James Jewel Pilson, Simon Lee Pilson and wife, Della Mae (Pullins), and her twin, Alfred Pilson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tishie Viola Reynolds and husband, Johnsey Franklin Reynolds, and Cora Ethel Joyce and husband, Harry Lee Joyce; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kurt, Alfred, Leon, Bernard and Joseph Wimbush, Annie Hairston, Barbara Foddrell and her husband, Turner, and a daughter-in-law, Rev. Juliaette Dudley Wimbush.  Avis was a faithful member of Fresh Harvest Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and was the highly respected first lady of Antioch Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where her husband is the pastor.

Mrs. Wimbush is survived by her loving husband of sixty-seven years, Rev. Junior Willie Wimbush of the home; four children, Rev. Junior Leroy Wimbush of Woolwine; Timothy Wendell Wimbush and wife, Sheila of Florence, South Carolina, Anthony Steven Wimbush and wife, Carol of Waldorf, Maryland, and Kimberly Evonne Wimbush of Woolwine; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six bonus grandchildren; nine bonus great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Frances Pilson (widow of James Jewel Pilson) of Baltimore, Maryland, Alma Pilson (widow of Alfred Pilson) of Martinsville, Virginia, Dorothy Mae Wells and husband, James of Stuart, Virginia, Virginia Ann Hairston and husband, Kenneth of Martinsville, Virginia, and Jennie Wells Wimbush (widow of Alfred Wimbush) of Bassett, Virginia; brothers-in-law, James Wimbush and wife, Violet of Martinsville, Virginia, Clifford Wimbush and wife, Rosemary of Martinsville, Virginia, and a great host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wimbush will be private with Dr. Byron L. Battle, Sr. presiding and Rev. J. Leroy Wimbush eulogizing.  Friends may come by Moody Funeral Home in Stuart on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm to pay their final respects.  Online condolences may be sent by www.moodyfuneralservices.com
