An anonymous donor is offering to match up to $100,000 in donations toward the construction of Stuart Church of Living Water’s proposed daycare facility.
Pastor Tommy Shepherd said the dollar-for-dollar challenge began Aug. 31 and will continue through Dec. 20.
Shepherd said the church wants to build the daycare because of what it sees as a need for childcare in Patrick County.
At a Patrick County Economic Development Authority meeting in March, church leaders presented plans for a religious daycare facility that would serve children from infancy through age 5.
The proposed facility would accommodate approximately 60 children and would be located on 5.5 acres off Ashby Drive. Hours are expected to run from about 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
