Martinsville High School’s Marching Band continues Disney World tradition

In 1975, Martinsville High School’s marching band took their first trip to Disney World. Since then, the band has taken a trip every four years, the most recent in 2016.

The marching band will add another trip to their on-going Disney tradition this year, March 18 – 22. The high school’s marching band will perform in the Magic Kingdom Parade on March 20 and the jazz band will perform at Disney Springs on March 21.

“Our students get to perform at the ‘happiest place on Earth’ in front of thousands of people,” said Band Director Brian Joyce. “Performances like these give students a chance to showcase their talents outside of the Martinsville and Henry County community, provide students a chance to see other parts of the country, and an opportunity to perform all around the country.

“Students will also be able to build band unity and a better sense of school and community pride. In addition to our performances, the students will enjoy time in all four Disney Parks and Disney Springs,” he added.
