
A 38-year-old Martinsville man was charged in connection with an Aug. 1 shooting on Starling Avenue, according to a release from the Martinsville Police Department.
Martinsville Police officers responded to the 900 block of Starling Avenue after hearing multiple shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, officers found multiple pieces of evidence related to the shooting in the rear parking lot of a business.
No injuries were reported.
Through the investigation, police identified Kevin Darel Preston as a suspect. Preston was arrested Aug. 21.
He is charged with two counts of attempted manslaughter, shooting at an occupied vehicle, reckless handling of a firearm and shooting in a public place.
Preston is being held at the Martinsville City Jail without bond.
Consider removing the second sentence: ‘The two incidents are not associated, according to police.’
The investigation remains ongoing.
