Local triathletes power through White Lake competition

This past weekend a group of triathletes from Martinsville and Henry County traveled to White Lake, N.C. to compete in a triathlon festival that had an international and sprint triathlon. An international triathlon is a 1,500 meter open water swim, 28 mile bike and a 6.2 mile run.  The sprint triathlon is a 750 meter open water swim, 18 mile bike and a 3.1 mile run.  

Below are the results for the participants’ age group and the distance in which they competed:

Brad Kinkema – Sprint 2nd 1:37.47 

Christina Kinkema – Sprint 5th 1:59.46 

Robin Hurd – Sprint 2:34.00 

Leigh Reece – Sprint 1st 2:15.33

Pat Sharpe – International 4th 3:24.56

Christy Nester – International 3rd 3:11.30

Sophie Kendall – International   1st 3:20:00

Diamond Dog Divas* – International Relay 3rd 3:34.06
