The Blue Ridge Regional Library Foundation received a $15,000 donation from Carter Bank for the ‘Build a Better Library Book by Book’ campaign to increase the size of the Blue Ridge Regional Library’s Bassett branch.
Launched in 2023, the campaign aims to raise $2.6 million to expand the building to provide enhanced resources and gathering spaces for families, students, and residents throughout the region.
“Libraries play a vital role in strengthening communities by creating access to education, resources, and opportunities for lifelong learning,” said Melissa Chapman, director of the Blue Ridge Library Foundation. “We are grateful for Carter Bank’s generous support of this project and their continued investment in the people and families who rely on our library system every day.”
Carter Bank’s donation reflects the organization’s purpose to create opportunities for more people and businesses to prosper by supporting initiatives that improve the quality of life and expand access to educational resources across the communities it serves.
“At Carter Bank, we believe strong communities are built through access to opportunity, education, and connection,” said Litz Van Dyke, chief executive officer of Carter Bank. “The library’s expansion of its Bassett branch will create a welcoming space where children, families, and community members can learn and grow together for years to come. We are proud to support a project that will have such a meaningful and lasting impact on our region.”
The additional space will include a separate children’s department, a community meeting room large enough for 50 people, and a drive-through for book checkout and returns, making it more convenient for visitors.
