Mackenzie Hairston(10) goes up for a layup against Northside defender

By Miranda Crockett
Magna Vista defeated the Northside Vikings 60 to 28 at William Fleming in their invitational tournament right before Christmas break. The Lady Warriors had a field day in transition and they had three players score in double figures to help them get the win.

Ta’Naisha Hairston led the way for the Warriors with 18 points and a combination of vital assists and rebounds. Jaliah Wilson was the second leading scorer for the night. She had 16 points and went four for four from the free throw line. Sinai Hairston-Williams was the third leading scorer for the Warriors with 12 points.

Northside played without their Division I commit Tracey Hueston that committed to Pittsburgh back in September. Gianna Brown tried to fill the gap and was the leading scorer for the Vikings with 11 points. Tamiyah Gates had 8 points and Samantha Johnson had 6.

The Warriors got the lead early and never let up. They were up 16 going into the half. Magna Vista scored 31 points in the second half and forced 24 turnovers for the game. They outscored the Vikings in every quarter and won the battle of the boards by out rebounding Northside on the defensive end.
