Martinsville Police Officer David Koger was recognized as Officer of the Quarter. The recognition is voted on by senior members of the department and is awarded to an officer who has exhibited hard work and dedication to the department and the community it serves, according to Jarrett Marketing LLC, which coordinates the award.

Koger has been with the police department for six years. Before that, he spent three years with the Martinsville Sheriff’s Office. He began his career in our Patrol Division and is currently assigned to the Community Resources Unit as a School Resource Officer. In addition to his normal duties, Koger is a DCJS certified General Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, and EVOC Instructor, as well as a Crisis Intervention Instructor.

Award sponsors provide free meals, treats and movie passes. They include Chopstix Martinsville-Va, McDonald’s (Commonwealth Blvd. & Bassett Forks), Food Lion (Stanleytown), Livy’s ice cream shop, and Hollywood Cinema.
