A series of public hearings will be held on October 23, at 1 p.m. in the Summerlin Meeting Room of the Henry County Administration Building, on Kings Mountain Road in Collinsville. The hearings will provide an opportunity for residents to offer input on two proposed Special Use Permits for Large Scale Solar Energy Facilities.

The first request, by New Energy Equity / Henry Solar 1, LLC, seeks a Special Use Permit and proposes rezoning to allow a large-scale solar energy facility to be built. The proposed property is located on the east side of Meadowood Trail, approximately 1.2 miles north of Preston Road in the Horsepasture District. The applicant wants to develop a 4-megawatt solar facility on 27 acres of a 92-acre parcel.

The property is currently zoned Agricultural District A-1.

A second request, also filed by New Energy Equity / Henry Solar 2, LLC, seeks a Special Use Permit

for another large-scale solar energy facility. This project is planned on a property that is situated on the east side of Meadowood Trail, about 1.2 miles north of Preston Road in the Horsepasture District. The proposal is for a 2-megawatt solar facility on 18.99 acres of a 41.31-acre parcel. The property is currently designated as Agricultural District A-1.
