Henry County investigators are seeking information in the death of three people found in a home Thursday night.

Deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 7:47 p.m. on May 28 for a well-being check at 221 Venna Ave., Martinsville.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies were unable to make contact with the individuals that lived in the home. At the request of family members, deputies made entry into the home and found three dead — one man and two women.

An investigator with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the Western District of Virginia was summoned to the scene and worked with county investigators to photograph and process the scene.

All three bodies were transported to the medical examiner’s office for autopsies to identify the victims, as well as determine the manner and cause of death.

The victims were identified as Larry John Cassell, 57; Linda Cassell, 64, and Lois Irene Cassell, 90, all of 221 Venna Avenue,  Martinsville.

The deaths of the two women were ruled a homicide; the man’s death is believed to be suicide, according to a release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 276-638-8751 or Crimestoppers at 63-CRIME (632-7463). The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $2,500 for information related to crimes. The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
