Hospitalizations from COVID-19 continue to increase

As of January 20, Sovah Health has 75 patients across both campuses, with 46 located in Danville and 29 in Martinsville, who have tested positive and are being treated for COVID-19 in our hospitals. This is an increase since the Jan. 6 update.

Currently, the hospitals have adequate capacity to meet patient needs, including in critical care and intensive care.

The hospital system continues to urge the community to follow the guidelines by masking, practicing social distancing, and frequent hand hygiene.

Dr. Prince Djan, Hospitalist, shares the bi-weekly update, including information about the number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered, the number of COVID-19 patients successfully discharged in 2020, as well as local vaccine administration information from the health departments at

The hospital system continues to take all the necessary precautions to protect patients and staff from COVID-19, including limiting entry points to the facility, screening all individuals for symptoms of COVID-19, universal masking, and maintaining a limited visitor protocol.
