Drivers should expect heavy traffic and delays in Hillsville during the Labor Day weekend flea market, scheduled for Sept. 4-7 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, according to a release from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
Thousands of visitors are expected along a one-mile section of U.S. 58 Business, resulting in sidewalks crowded with pedestrians and bumper-to-bumper traffic that is expected to move at a crawl throughout the area, according to VDOT.
Drivers who are not attending the flea market are encouraged to avoid the area.
Motorists traveling through the area should use caution, watch for police directing traffic and follow electronic message boards.
