The United Way of Henry County and Martinsville will open its VITA tax office on Tuesday, January 20, at 9 a.m.
The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), a free, certified volunteer service, is an IRS sponsored initiative for residents of Martinsville and Henry County with qualifying household or individual incomes of $67,000 or less.
For the 2024 tax year, 1,916 tax returns were filed by our VITA office, with savings of $479,000 on commercial tax preparation, and $1,876,541 in federal refunds were claimed.
The VITA office is located at 10 Liberty Extension, Martinsville, VA, next to Lester Building Supply. Taxpayers may call 276-403-5976 to schedule their appointment Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m.- 12 p.m.
