Patrick & Henry Community College (P&HCC) has announced the appointment of Dr. Colin Ferguson as assistant vice president of workforce and technical programs, effective immediately.
Ferguson has served as dean of STEM, health, and applied programs at P&HCC since 2001. Prior to that, he held multiple roles at the college, including director of enrollment management, accelerated career pathways coordinator, Perkins Grant administrator, and Tech Prep coordinator.
“Dr. Ferguson brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for the members of our community to this new role,” said Dr. Greg Hodges, P&HCC president. “We are pleased to have his expertise as we continue to support students on their journey toward a financially stable future built in part by the credentials they earn during their time on our campus.”
During his tenure at P&HCC, Ferguson has played a key role in collaborating with faculty to meet workforce and transfer needs, streamlining program offerings, and designing curriculum to boost enrollment efficiency and meet employer demands. In his new role, he will join the college’s leadership team and help provide a caring campus experience for all members of the PHamily.
“I am excited about this opportunity and look forward to working more closely with our local industry partners,” Ferguson said. “I look forward to working with the multiple P&HCC partners that have such a tremendous positive impact on our local area.”
Ferguson earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Emory & Henry College, an MBA with a concentration in finance from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and a Ph.D. in community college leadership from Old Dominion University.
