Piedmont Arts will host a Closing Reception in honor of Ansel Adams: Compositions in Nature, on loan from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, on Friday, February 26 at the museum. The exhibit will remain on display through Saturday, February 27. Admission is free.

Join Piedmont Arts for a Closing Reception in honor of the museum’s exhibits on Friday, February 26, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the museum.

Ansel Adams: Compositions in Nature, on loan from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, features photographs by the renowned photographer. Known for his photographs of the western landscape, Adams is one of the most celebrated and influential American artists of the twentieth century. This exhibit brings together over 40 of his most beloved works and places them in context of the artist’s multifaceted career, in which he excelled as an artist, environmentalist, and musician.

A Closing Reception in honor of I Am, featuring work by Jason Franklin, will be held by Piedmont Arts on Friday, February 26 at the museum. The exhibit will remain on display through Saturday, February 27. Admission is free.

I Am…, featuring work by Jason Franklin, narrates the human condition through two collections: I Am… and The Barbershop Series. In I Am…, Franklin shows glimpses of God’s glory and love through people, relationships, and color. The Barbershop Series is a coming-of-age narrative that tells the story of the artist’s transformation from son to father. Both collections bring to life everyday situations and feelings—like love, family, faith, dreams, and friendship—in extraordinary ways.

Virginia: Changing Topographies is a photographic series by John Kinney based on the expanding development in rural districts of Northern Virginia. His photos highlight areas being developed, and feature land that many residents hope will remain untouched.

The Closing Reception is free and open to the public. Complimentary wine and light refreshments will be served. Social distancing and masks are required. Limited Capacity. RSVP required by Feb. 23 to (276) 632-3221 or online at PiedmontArts.org.

Exhibits will remain on display through Saturday, February 27. Exhibit admission is always free.

Exhibits and reception sponsored by Susan and Charles Aaron, Dr. Barry Dorsey, Cindy and Steve Edgerton, Jo and Don Grayson, Lynn and Noel Ward and Lynwood Artists.

Piedmont Arts is located at 215 Starling Avenue, Martinsville. Learn more at PiedmontArts.org.
