The Reynolds Homestead announced that the 45th Annual JEB Stuart Art Show will return this year, though with a few modifications to ensure the health and safety of participants.

The show will be on exhibition Sept. 11 through Oct. 23, and gallery hours will be available by appointment.

The gallery, which is always free to the public, will be open on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. beginning Sept. 11 and until the show ends.

Wearing masks is required and social distancing will be observed.

Visitors will be scheduled in 30-minute increments to allow plenty of time for viewing, and up to 6 people in a party may attend at one time. The Hokie Bird will direct visitors through the exhibition, and staff asks that visitors do not retrace their steps.

To make an appointment, visit the website www.reynoldshomestead.vt.edu, and register.

For artists who would like to enter their work into the show, art will be accepted the following days and times: Sunday, August 23, 1 to 4 p.m.; Monday, August 24, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Tuesday, August 25, noon to 5 p.m.; and Wednesday August 26, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

To help ensure safe drop offs, artists are requested to register for a time to bring their work. The link for those appointments is also available on the Reynolds Homestead website.

The awards ceremony for this year’s JEB Stuart Art Show will be held via ZOOM on Thursday, September 10, at 6 p.m., and that link is on the website as well.

The JEB Stuart Art Show is for adults only; the Reynolds Homestead Student Art Show is held in March and April.  Eighteen-year-old seniors in high school may participate in either show, but not both. Photography is not eligible for this show. The Nancy Susan Reynolds Memorial Photography Show will be held in November and December.

Participating artists must be 18 years of age or older, and must live in Patrick, Henry, Franklin, Floyd or Carroll counties in Virginia, or Surry or Stokes counties in North Carolina. Any Patrick County native and any member of Bull Mountain Arts, regardless of place of residence, is eligible.

All work must be the artist’s original work, completed within the last 3 years, and not shown in a previous JEB Stuart Art Show. Each artist may enter two works of art with a non-refundable entry fee of $25; members of Bull Mountain Arts may enter for $20.

All media are accepted into the following categories:  Oil Paintings, Acrylic Paintings, Watercolor Paintings, Drawing (pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, pastels, colored pencil), and 2D Mixed Media and Three Dimensional. Entry forms are available by contacting Lisa Martin at martinlm@vt.edu.
