The Martinsville Elks Lodge recently made donations to several community groups, including:

Fostering Champions – donated $1,000 to Fostering Champions, a 501©3 nonprofit, whose focus is to support teens in foster care, who often find themselves abandoned and neglected by the public, along with aiding aging out children to help them from becoming homeless, incarcerated, or trafficked.  This is a local group that was founded by a former foster child, Bobby Canipe. There are two homes for aged out fosters in Rocky Mount, VA and they have just broken ground for a new home in Martinsville. They are looking for anyone who may want to donate to help with the Martinsville home or help with the building project.

Henry County Public Schools Career Academy – donated 72 pair of safety glasses for the HVAC/Industrial Maintenance and Agriscience Programs at the Career Academy.  These tools help foster workplace safety and empower students to excel in their fields.

All Vets – donated $1,000 to All Vets, a local 501(c)3 Veterans group, to support their efforts in our community as well as their upcoming 2nd annual Henry County Memorial Ruck Walk on Saturday, May 24 starting and ending at Jack Dalton Park.  The group will be traveling 22 miles across Henry County.  Community members can join the group at Jack Dalton Park at 2pm and walk the final lap for a Walk of Remembrance.  Flags can be purchased for just $10 each to memorialize Veterans and the flags are carried on the Memorial Ruck trek.  All Vets is a group of United States military retirees, veterans, and active duty members, as well as military families and patriotic citizens who have come together to honor our fallen military and strengthen the living.  All funds raised in Henry County stay in Henry County to support local veterans.
