A ribbon cutting was recently held at E & K Caskets LLC, which is located at 8620 A.L. Philpott Highway, Martinsville. Owners Eric and Katharine Giles acquired the building, which was formerly a pawn shop, and renovated the space, transforming it into their current business space.
The inspiration for starting their business came from the desire to help people.
“We see people struggling during this time of need and we wanted to help people,” said Eric Giles.
The business offers a variety of caskets at various price points that can be purchased by funeral homes as well as individuals. The caskets can be customized to a variety of designs and financing is available, if needed. An in-house flower shop offers a variety of arrangements, sympathy baskets, and special occasion florals.
“We can customize anybody’s flowers that they like for a gravesite or any occasion,” Katharine Giles said. The floral shop includes a variety of Styrofoam forms and artificial flowers available for purchase so individuals can make their own arrangements if desired.
