The Patrick County School Board heard concerns from a parent about bullying at Patrick County High School at its Sept. 10 meeting.
A parent of a now former student alleged his son was bullied by other members of his athletic team and his coach.
Schools Superintendent Dr. Jason Wood said the school board could not respond to the claims at the meeting or discuss the situation as it is confidential.
“Definitely if it’s something that we addressed with an employee, it becomes a personnel matter so it must remain confidential. Same thing with student discipline, all that is confidential record that” people can’t “FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) and get information. It’s protected for privacy of the employee, it’s protected for privacy of the student,” Wood said.
