PHCC: A Basic Contractor License Class will be offered at PHCC from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., by Instructor Rodney Clark. The 8-hour course provides a basic look at statutes and regulations governing contract licensing in Virginia. Tuition: $189; Pre-registration is required. YMCA: Miles in Martinsville, under the auspices of the Martinsville-Henry County Family YMCA, is pleased to announce the Turkey Day 5K & Family Fun Run. Starting time is 9 a.m. Runners are strongly encouraged to register online at www.milesinmartinsville.com. The race starts and finishes at the YMCA at 2 Starling Ave, Martinsville. Piedmont Arts: For the third year, Piedmont Arts will host a Christmas tree lighting in the Gravely-Lester Art Garden. Join the museum for hot chocolate, Christmas carols and a visit from Santa. Just like the sculptures in its Art Garden, the museum’s Christmas tree will be a work of art. Created by Ian Hogg using lights strung on wire, the tree will be lit at sunset on December 3 and brighten the Art Garden through New Year’s Day. Farmer’s Market: Come shop for the holidays with local vendors selling handmade soup, woodwork, yarnwork, homemade baked goods, local honey, elderberry syrup, and ready-to-eat meals. YMCA: Miles in Martinsville and the Martinsville-Henry County Family YMCA, is pleased to announce the running of the Light Up The Night 5K, starting at 4 p.m. Runners are strongly encouraged to register online prior to December 4 at www.milesinmartinsville.com. The race starts and finishes at the Smith River Sports Complex located at 1000 Irisburg Rd, Axton, VA  24054.  A course map with details can be found at: www.milesinmartinsville.com This event is a fun kick off to the holiday season with many runners and walkers dressed in festive costumes.  As the Fall event for Miles in Martinsville’s YOUTH in MOTION program, the race is loaded with youngsters, enjoying an evening of fun and fellowship with parents and friends.
