Sunday, June 7

Bassett Ruritan Club, 277 Philpott Dam Road, Bassett, will host an Open Mic and Jam Session, 2-4 p.m. Everyone welcome. Admission is free. For more info call Randy Farmer, 276 629-8296.

Monday, June 8

Summer Art Camps at Piedmont Arts begin. Campers will be introduced to artists such as Jasper Johns, Piet Mondrian, George Seurat, Marc Chagall, Faith Ringgold, Georgia O’Keeffe, and James Rizzi. Age-appropriate activities will incorporate these artists’ styles and techniques, including pointillism, mosaics, landscapes, cityscapes, neo-dada, and pop art. Summer Art Camp is led by instructor Juandalynn Jones-Hunt, the art educator for Henry County Public Schools. Tickets are $80 for members and $90 for nonmembers. Advanced registration is required. Grades K-2: 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m., June 8-12;

Grades 3-5: 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m., June 15-19;

Grades 6-8: 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m., July 20-24.

Saturday, June 13

Artwork Entry for “Expressions 2026: America 250.” Open to artists living within a 100-mile radius of Martinsville Enter from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m., at Piedmont Arts. All entries must be made during the designated time frame. No early or late entries will be accepted. “Expressions” is an open-entry exhibition presented annually by Lynwood Artists and Piedmont Arts. In honor of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, artists are asked to submit work focusing on the theme “America250.” Learn more at PiedmontArts.org.

Sunday, June 14

The General Joseph Martin Chapter and the Patrick Henry Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a flag day program at 3 p.m. in the Martinsville-Henry County Historical Society in the old courtroom. Everyone who attends will receive a handheld American Flag.

Sunday, June 21

Sunday Afternoon Lecture: “A Few Lines to Margaret: A Local Account of the First World War” by Hunter Haskins, 3-4 p.m.at the MHC Heritage Museum, 1 E. Main St., Martinsville. Admission is free. Experience the emotional depth of America’s involvement in World War One through a series of 45 letters from a local soldier to his wife.

Friday, June 26

Opening Reception in honor of “Expressions 2026: America250,” 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Piedmont Arts. An awards ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. in the galleries. Complimentary wine and light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public. Lynwood Artists meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Piedmont Arts.

The Martinsville-Henry County Lions Club regularly meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Pacific Bay Restaurant, 530 Commonwealth Blvd, Martinsville.

Bassett Ruritan Club, 277 Philpott Dam Road, Bassett, hosts breakfast on the 2nd Saturday of each month, $9 for adults, and $4 for children under 12. All you can eat, sausage, fried bologna, eggs, cooked apples, sausage gravy, biscuits, made-to-order pancakes, coffee, and juice. Dine in or carry out.

Piedmont Arts Guild meets on the fourth Thursday of each month, except in November and December, at 11:45 a.m. at Piedmont Arts.

Virginia Foothills Quilters Guild daytime group meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at Piedmont Arts and on the third Friday of each month in January, March, May, July, September, and November, from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at Piedmont Arts. Virginia Foothills Quilters Guild evening group meets on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30-9 p.m. at Piedmont Arts.

BINGO on Mondays, Horsepasture Volunteer Fire Department, 17815 A.L. Philpott Highway, Ridgeway. Doors open at 5 p.m., games start at 7 p.m. Concessions are available.

AWANA meets at Blackberry Baptist Church on Sundays, from 4-6 p.m.

Book Bingo on the 4th Tuesday of the month at the Martinsville Branch of the Blue Ridge Regional Library, 11 a.m. to noon. Call (276) 403-5430 to register.

Bassett Ruritan Club hosts Rook Music & More on Fridays from 10 a.m. – noon. Play Rook, work puzzles, make a craft and listen to a mixture of bluegrass, country & gospel music by different bands each week. Free, but donations will be used by the club to pay for electricity etc.

The Fontaine Ruritan Club hosts Bingo every Tuesday, 1903 Joseph Martin Highway, Martinsville. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and games begin at 7. Money from Bingo supports community service awards, scholarships, and other community efforts.

Bingocize at Spencer-Penn Centre. Play Bingo and prevent falls with simple exercises. This free class is offered Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

Chair Aerobics at Spencer Penn Centre, Tuesdays at 9 a.m. with Judi Perrin; $5 fee, 45 minutes of exercise, strength building and fun.

TOPS FIELDALE VA 0626 meets on Tuesdays at 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Bassett Public Library, 3969 Fairystone Hwy, Bassett. New members are welcome. For more information, call Patti Farmer (276) 358-0489.
